Happy Friday, all!
I hope everyone around the State is safe today as we prep for the storm heading our way!
Wanted to give you some reminders and updates:
-
Numbers for Consumables: We've already gotten back 2027-2028 consumable numbers from many of you - thank you! No rush - do it when it makes sense for you - we just like them by Halloween.
A couple of notes here: We DO send the email blast to several folks in your district - all 139 of you do things differently, so we just want to be sure everyone has all the info! Check in with your fellow curriculum or textbook coordinator folks in your district to know who's doing what.
Also....some of your secondary consumable resources MAY not be listed. That's because the different subjects in secondary may be at different price points - & you may not be able to flex those numbers. So - you'll just automatically receive those consumables at that level at that set #. If you're not sure, please DO check with your CSR (customer service rep) at PW. They can also help you with any questions concerning your consumable numbers.
-
Textbook State Money: For this year, that's $100 per student. A reminder you & your district may ONLY USE that money on student instructional materials (not pure formative assessments or teacher-only resources) that have been taken through a local adoption process within your district. That rings true whether the resource was on some kind of state list - or not.
With Math Gap - if you do NOT change resources from what your district adopted in 2021, you do NOT need a textbook committee to take that back through the adoption process; your district has already approved that resource. If you DO want to change, then you WOULD need to get it locally adopted.
Supplemental resources MAY be purchased with state textbook money...but again - that's with local adoption, which includes a board-approved committee rec that is approved by your local Board. I can help you work through that as it relates to your specific district's needs.
-
Math Gap Packages: This year, your primary textbook task will be to secure your 3-year math textbook gap. This would include consumable resources AND digital access, K-12. There's no rush here to do this - do it when YOU want to do it. If you're changing resources at some level, then there will be more involved. If NOT, then it's just a matter of getting with the publishing rep, getting a quote for what you want/need, getting a PO made out to PW, & then sending both to us at orders@publisherswarehouse.com.
-
Math Gap - Off List Local Contracts: Because the 6-year state ALSDE contract is expiring at the end of this school year...and there's no new "review" taking place, PW is securing "off list local contracts" with each previously state adopted math publisher. This is the SAME process we use for AP Books or other "off list" resources that publishers offer. This means publishing companies are bound to this set price for all of you - & that these resources will remain available for 3 years.
As they finalize their 3-year gap, we will publish them on our website, as you are accustomed to seeing, under Resources > Off List Local Contracts - under the MATH heading. You'll see we already have 3-year gap price points for Cengage & Pearson math textbooks (alongside some AP Math offerings). More will be loaded alphabetically as we receive them.
NEW Resource Offering: Finally, one of the services we provide you is to occasionally highlight a new resource from one of our publishing partners. One such NEW partner is Brian Connell with YAWP, who is offering professional learning & a student/teacher site-license resource for structuring writing instruction. The resources include an AI tutor to help guide students' thinking & writing as they work. Click here to view a flyer that offers some introductory information, including prices. As a partner with us, orders can be sent to PW for these resources. Please check out YAWP's website & contact Brian by phone/email with the info provided below for more info:

ONE LAST THING: My email has changed! Your emails to the old address are still getting to me - but that will eventually stop. Go ahead and change my email in your stuff to pchappell@publisherswarehouse.com.
Have a great weekend - & stay dry!
