AP Social Studies Book - Options

Curriculum Directors & Textbook Coordinators/p>

For those of you ready to hop to it,  here are some next steps:

  1. Get your books adopted by your local board. That means....your committee recs are approved by your local board. Send that info AFTER your board meeting to Dr Jones at the ALSDE.
  2. Remember - adoption does not mean purchase. It means that you have the authority to use state textbook funds to purchase locally adopted resources. For example, you may adopt an entire K-5 series - but may choose to only purchase only 3rd -5th this year.
  3. The ALSDE scores will be posted on their website in the next few days. I've attached the list of what was reviewed. Arts Ed is 100% - all on this list could be adopted/purchased by you. For social studies, the comprehensive selections may all be adopted & purchased - excluding the rejected grade levels from Exploros (the previous email listed the Exploros that COULD be adopted/purchased).
  4. Once that's all done, get your #s together for next year. Use those numbers to ask for quotes from each of the publishersthat you will purchase from us.
  5. Review those quotes carefully. Make sure it's what you want to purchase - the correct bundles, the correct #s, etc.
  6. Get a PO or POs from your business office made out to PW. Make sure your business office understands the unique nature of purchasing textbooks. It's confusing to many that you get a quote from a publisher, but you make your PO out to Publishers' Warehouse. But you are purchasing through us at PW - the state depository - which is better for you & the publishing companies. Any shipping charges listed on your quotes may be left off your PO, as you pay NO SHIPPING with us. ALSO - very important - make sure your business office does NOT send any POs/orders to the publishing company, too. We've had situations where both us & the publishing company were sent the same orders - & you get twice what you want!
  7. We can take one or multiple POs - however you wish to do it. Some do one PO only. Some do different POs for different publishers. And others do POs for each school. We do NOT need a quote for each PO. As long as all the numbers match-up on the quotes &: POs, we're all good. For example, one K-5 quote from Acme Publishing Co can suffice for all of your elementary schools - just make sure your #s match.
  8. Prepare to email to PW based on how you want it shipped to your district. If you're ordering in-bulk to one location, it's pretty simple. Just give us the total numbers for each grade level/subject and the location/contact name for the delivery. If you're having it broken out by school, we will need the numbers per school, addresses for each school, contact name for each school, etc. Different POs per school might take care of that. OR - one PO with a matching spreadsheet would also work. Whatever is easiest for you.
  9. Email both your quote(s) & your PO(s) to orders@publisherswarehouse.com - Your customer service rep will process for you.
  10. Got to have 10 things - right? Questions? Email/Call me. That's what I'm here for!
